Before I start with the blurb, I gotta say this – WHATTA story!! A complete hoot, keeps you on the edge of your seat and keeps you wanting more of Lady Laura’s adventures! If you are a spy thriller fan then you must read this book. MUST!! What are you waiting for? Go on and grab a copy of Code 17! Okay, not right away. Read my review and then you can go grab the book! 😉

So, first things first. Welcome to my stop on the blog tour for Code 17 by Francis Booth. This is my first tour with Anne Carter. 😀

The story starts with a BANG! Literally!

BANG.

Jonty spins round, holding the gate, trying to stay upright. He looks across at me, startled.

BANG

BANG

And the last word Jonty says before he dies is “CODE 17”.

What on earth is Code 17?

Meet Lady Laurencia Artemisia Claudia Summers aka Lady Laura. She’s about to get married to Jonty but alas! The poor chap is now dead – on their wedding day!! Shot just ten minutes before the wedding!! Laura learns from her father that Jonty and he were a part of a secret society that goes by the name CODE 17. Now now, Code 17 might not be the next James Bond-ish group and neither is Laura a Johnny English but…

What happens next is a mumble-jumble, hot pot, mixed bag and everything else of adventure, some serious spy business, action and adventure, a spoonful of romance and cart loads of chasing. Why does one have to watch a spy thriller when they can read this book at the comfort of their homes???

The story is full of twists and twists and twists and (phew!) twists. Laura is very likeable. VERY! She’s smart, funny, makes some Bruce Lee kinda moves and yeah, don’t ever get into a sword fight with her! Did I not mention that she works with her friend Muffie in a art dealership business? The duo, together with an East German defector Ronnie set up a gallery where they sell art. All those masterpieces that sell for tens of thousands of bucks or so – yep, the trio sell them. I never said they sell the original ones now, did I?

A painting is valuable if, and only if everyone thinks it’s valuable. It doesn’t matter who painted it, it only matter who everyone thinks painted it.

Things change for Laura when her fiance` is murdered and she learns that someone by the name of Persephone is behind his murder. Then begins a chase of a lifetime. Persephone always manages to be a step ahead of Laura! Poor Laura!

I was so engrossed in the story and I just did not want it to end! NO, NO! The story ends with a –

‘Congratulations, Lady Summers. It’s a …’

My kindle said 100% read but I still tried to swipe right. There must be a hidden 1% somewhere that completed the sentence. It’s a what? A Girl? A Boy? A Puppy? (Nope, not possible!) I then found the next book in this series and guess who read it. 😀 😀 😀 (If you are still guessing who read it!- Yours truly)

I highly recommend you to read Code 17. If you are a fan of The Man from U.N.C.L.E or Johnny English or Get Smart or similar kind of movies then you must read Code 17. Set in the 1967’s, this book is a complete entertainment package. Likeable characters, action and adventure, a story that makes you laugh out loud and much more, who would want to miss reading such a book?

Many thanks to Anne Cater for giving me an opportunity to be a part of this blog tour.
