Murder at the Blueberry Festival is the third book in Darci Hannah’s Beacon Bakeshop Mysteries.

Lindsey eagerly prepares for Beacon Harbor’s Blueberry Festival, where her bakery hosts a blueberry pie eating contest. Festivities take a turn as a local real estate agent falls victim to pranks, followed by water balloon attacks on the parade float. Laughter fades when the mischief escalates, pointing to deliberate sabotage. The climax involves a surprising discovery: a deceased man and a goat afloat in a boat.

I have been avidly following this series from the start and was eagerly anticipating Lindsey’s next sleuthing adventure. Murder at the Blueberry Festival by Darci Hannah indulges readers in a tantalizing blend of all things blueberry, leaving me yearning for pies, teas, cookies, and salads. It’s an irresistible culinary cozy that captures the essence of mouth-watering delights.

The narrative unfolds with Lindsey and the rest of Beacon Harbor residents gearing up for the upcoming Blueberry festival. Lindsey almost empty blueberry supply is rescued by a friendly neighbor just in time for the festivities.

However, the joyous occasion takes a mischievous note when a local real estate agent becomes the first target of a prank. Subsequent events, including a fashion show hosted by Lindsey’s mum, fall victim to the mysterious prankster. The only exception is Lindsey’s blueberry pie eating contest, spared only because a dead man with a goat in a boat afloat was found that morning.

As Lindsey, her friend Kennedy, and Lindsey’s boyfriend Rory, delve into the case, they uncover more about the victim and his supposed connection to the pranks. Was he targeted because of his reputation as the supposed prankster?

The narrative is woven with plenty of clues, suspects, and motives, keeping both Lindsey and the readers in suspense till the end. The inclusion of Lindsey’s personal life – especially her blossoming relationship with Rory, added an extra layer of enjoyment.

Introducing a new character, Clara the goat, injects a delightful and mischievous element into the story. From Kennedy’s whimsical idea of turning the goat into a unicorn to Clara’s playful antics, she proves to be a charming addition.

The mystery behind the murder kept me guessing till the end. The unexpected twist in the ending, both in terms of motive and the identity of the killer, adds a shocking element. This deviation from the typical cozy mystery formula makes for an intriguing and satisfying conclusion.

In summary, Murder at the Blueberry Festival by Darci Hannah exceeded my expectations. While anticipating a light and enjoyable cozy mystery, I found myself engrossed in a captivating tale filled with suspense and a craving for delectable blueberry treats.
