The topic for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl is: Things Getting in the Way of Reading (what’s taking up your time right now?)

Things are always getting in my way. Chairs, tables, trees, cars, dogs, cats, stones, stationary vehicles… phew, the list goes on. I don’t understand why these things can’t mind their own business and be out of my way.

What did you say? I am clumsy? Nah!!

You got me trippin’, stumblin’, flippin’, fumblin’

Clumsy ’cause I’m fallin in love…

Well, LOVE certainly cannot help if you are tripping and stumbling.

I don’t think I can list ten things that are getting in my way right now. I will try my best to walk into… I mean, list ten things…

#1. Cooking

I LOVE cooking. I am a foodie too, but I prefer making a dish at home rather than eating out. I like flavorful yet less spicy and oily dishes. That’s only possible when I cook at home. I have been cooking all my life. Yeah, that’s like since the beginning of this universe. I started the big bang when I accidentally forgot to turn off the gas stove. Yeah, it was just a gas leak. Thank me for your evolution, you pesky hoomans!

#2. Gardening

No, I am not going to talk about Adam and Eve and the bloody snake in the garden of Eden. There aren’t any apples here, if you were wonderin’. So don’t go trippin’ stumblin’ flippin’…

I have started a terrace garden. I harvested Lettuce and Amaranthus yesterday. Cucumbers, brinjals, capsicum, baby corn, zucchini, okra and bitter gourds are in their sapling or flowering stage. We also have a couple of flowering plants (roses, marigolds, dahlias, hibiscus) and trees in our compound. We had to chop off our two mango trees, thanks to red ant infestation which went out of control.

#3. Dreaming of space travel

I have been watching Star Trek for the past one and half years. I finished Star Trek Original series, Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager. I am currently watching Star Trek Enterprise. I also watched Orville for the second time. Of course, Doctor Who (time travel) is an all-time favorite.

So, these TV series got me thinking. What if there are humanoids on other planets/solar systems and we are yet to meet them. Well, yes, you have met me, and I am not from Earth. Neither are you because Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus. Duh!!!

#4: Dreaming of being a famous voice actress

I love talking in different voices. I can sing too. I never said I am a good singer.

I never said I am a bad singer either.

So, what if I was a famous voice actress and Disney, Pixar, and all those other production companies would want to work with me. Make movies and movies and movies featuring me… Oh, what a dream! I mean, what a life. LIFE!

#5. Cats!!

We have four cats. No wait, make it five. The fifth is a new addition. Two ginger cats – sisters. One of them had a kitten last year, he’s coming over too, making him the fifth cat. The ginger siblings are outdoor cats. We have a black-and-white (she’s been ill for over a year) and a tabby indoors.

I sing to the tabby cat. She loves it. Yes, I have a pretty decent voice. Her favorite song right now is Flowers by Miley Cyrus.

I can chomp on some flowers

Litter outside my tray

Meow to you for hours

About fings you don’t understand

I can go tree climbing

And dig my nails into your hand

I can scratch you better than…

#6. Can’t get that song out of your head now, can you? Hah!

#7. Neither can I!

#8. Procrastination

I am like a pro at procrastination. I procrastinate about procrastination, and this has become a big issue now. I mean, seriously, how can I get rid of procrastination by procrastinating about it? Is this called procrastination constipation? 😛 I need a vacation. I can talk about cation if you wish, but you see, cation is pronounced as cat ion. Did you read it as ‘cation’?

#9. I am running out of ideas!!!

#10. Reading

Finally, one proper and decent thing that’s actually taking up a lot of my time. Reading. I am so behind on my reading, so many ARC backlogs to complete, I don’t have time to read the books I have been adding to my TBR for the past five years.

There are so many great books releasing every now and then. I want to read them all. I want to read mystery classics. I want to read this that and everything under the sun. HOW DO I DO IT?????
