It’s almost September! Time flies, doesn’t it?
Our cat, Peter (female), gave birth to six kittens at the end of July. The kittens were very tiny and until two weeks later, we did not realize they were born premature. After the first ten days, one kitten died. Then another… and another. By the end of August second week, we lost three kittens. Then, Peter had a gum infection. She stopped eating and after a day or two, stopped feeding the kittens too. The remaining three were howling the whole time, calling their mumma to feed them.
We tried to feed them but saw they had a bad eye and mouth infection. By then, Peter fell so sick that she had to be taken to the vet hospital. The vet said the kittens will not survive for long but they will do their best to save Peter and we brought her at the right time. Any delay and her recovery would have been so-so. The kittens were alive for 4-6 days without a drop of water or milk. We couldn’t feed them with a dropper and it was so sad to see them die. The strongest in the lot survived for six days without food or water.
Peter spent almost a week in the hospital and had two weeks of antibiotics. She still has a bit of gum pain but she’s feeling much better. It was touch and go – we did not know if she will survive but she did. Turns out, our Peter is a strong girl. 🙂 She was a stray until this January – that is when she came to our place. We will get her spayed once she recovers completely.
I took a ten day break from blogging. The first few days I spent fussing on Peter. I also did a bit of craft work and added finishing touches to an oil painting I started months ago. I haven’t done crafts before and it was quite an interesting experience. I have some craft ideas in mind for this month. After all, we have a couple of festivals coming up. Time to get creative. 🙂
Reading wise, this has been a slow month. I have a lot of ARC backlogs and I hope to read them as soon as possible. I don’t like to keep them pending for a long time.

See ya in September!
So sorry Peter and you had to go through that loss.
Thanks, Laurie.
Peter had an appointment with the vet yesterday. She’s 70% recovered (as per the vet). Ten more days of antibiotics and she might be completely fine.
Thinking of you

Poor Kittie.
Hugs…
Thank you ❤
Sorry to hear about Peter. I was wondering why aren’t you blogging?
Too much going on around so had to take a short break.
I still have a lot of books pending to be read. 🙈
