I did not get a lot of reading done this week due to an unexpected death in my friends and family circle. My neighbor and close family friend went on her usual evening walk and on her way back home, she dropped dead. Massive cardiac arrest. Passersby tried CPR and later, in the hospital too, they tried to revive her before declaring her brought dead.
It was quite a shock for all of us. She was quite healthy and active. It’s been five days since she’s gone but I still cannot believe she’s no longer with us. I went shopping with her three weeks ago. We always used to share recipes and dishes. She loved the cakes and cookies I baked. Though a family friend, she was more like my aunt. She will be missed.
This post is going to be shorter than my usual weekly wrap-up posts. I suppose I am still grieving and need some time to recover from the events of this past week.
The only thing that kept me from thinking about aunty is the gratitude tweets by my favorite authors. It felt really nice to see being tagged in the gratitude tweet-chain.

Thank you, Rita
I am sorry to hear about your loss. It is heartwarming that you two were so close and shared many ‘small’ moments. As you note, grieving takes time.
Thank you, Christophe.
So sorry to hear about this. It’s hard to get over. In the last couple of years I seem to have seen an inordinately large number of people dying of sudden massive cardiac arrest. Stress? Or something else? Whatever it is, it is hard to deal with. Take your time to grieve and remember.
Thank you, Sir.
Stress, maybe. We had an omicron community spread here in Jan. Aunty was infected too. It might have caused more stress – she had diabetes. 3-4 of my neighbors have succumbed to post-covid complications in the past 2 years.
