Genre: Romance
Sarah and Cat are sisters. Sarah lives in Sydney with her boyfriend Josh and their cat Domino. Cat lives in London with her flatmate Jane. Cat’s boyfriend Jean-Luc juggles between his apartment in Paris and London. He and Cat were classmates/best friends. Then, life got in the way and fast forward to the present, after a failed relationship and rekindling her friendship with Jean-Luc, Cat realized she and Jean-Luc were meant to be together forever.
Josh is planning a surprise for Sarah’s fortieth birthday. Everybody knows Sarah hates surprises and it is not late before she gets a whiff of what Josh is planning – he tells her about a vacation in Italy but he still keeps the main event a surprise. Then, one of the sisters receives a sweet wedding proposal and it is a YES! Wedding destination – Tuscany!
But not all’s clear between the love birds. They are getting married in a couple of months but the living arrangements are not decided yet. Would Cat move to Paris to stay with Jean-Luc? Or, would they have a long-distance marriage that most possibly will fizzle out soon? Cat definitely doesn’t want to leave London and Jean-Luc seems to be more comfortable living in his Paris apartment. Uh-oh!
Meanwhile, Sarah is turning the big Four-Oh and she feels there’s something missing in her life. She has a good job and a lovely boyfriend and yet, she seems unhappy. As the wedding week approaches, the sisters, along with their partners, travel to Tuscany and so do their parents and close friends.
As the D-Day approaches, both sisters have their doubts – one about her living arrangement while the other about her life. A setback or two before the wedding creates a bit of stress – is the universe trying to send them a signal? Only time will tell…
Gorgeous setting, a love story (or should I say stories?) that melts your heart and a heart-warming ending that leaves you with a wide smile, A Wedding in Tuscany by Sandy Barker is a charming and absolutely delightful read.
I loved everything about this book – the characters, the romance, the setting, the shopping, and of course, the main event for which everyone’s gathered – the wedding! We also have a dash of quirky humor, thanks to the Parsons sisters’ parents.
Turns out, this was the last book in Sandy Barker’s Holiday Romance series. I did not read the previous four books but I didn’t have any trouble following the story. The Parsons sisters’ backstory and that of their friends is explored in the previous books though.
If you are looking for a heart-warming and romantic summer read, I recommend you to give Sandy Barker’s A Wedding in Tuscany a try.
I received an ARC from One More Chapter and NetGalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased opinion.
