What a fabulous thriller! FAB-U-LOUS! The story starts with Charlie finding himself slumped against his husband Mathew’s dead body. Rachel, their dinner guest calls 999 with a bloody knife gripped in her hand. Charlie and Mathew’s son Titus has retired to his bedroom. The police come in, Rachel confesses to the crime and is arrested. End of story, you think? Nope! This is just the beginning…

We are then taken to the past – the events leading up to the murder. How Charlie and Mathew met, married; Titus and his ‘adventures’ (ahem!); how Rachel ended up at the book club and into the lives of Charlie and Mathew. While the rest of the family and friends adored Rachel, Charlie disliked her. He thought there was something odd about her.

The Dinner Guest is not your usual domestic thriller. The suspense is sure to keep you on the edge of the seat. Also, if you think you are smart enough to identity the killer – think again, my friend. The red herrings are plenty and sure to take one on the wrong path. Almost every chapter ends with a twist – some of which you never see it coming.

The storytelling is fantabulous! I was hooked on to the story. Bye-bye dinner and bye-bye sleep coz’ I gotta finish reading this book! I stayed awake until midnight (and after) to finish this book. The story is so gripping that you wouldn’t want to put down the book until the end. Speaking of end, the story ends with a bang! Who says revenge is sweet, eh?

Be it the character portrayal or the suspense, B.P. Walter has done an excellent job in keeping the readers hooked on to the story until the end. The Dinner Guest by B.P. Walter is THE THRILLER OF THE YEAR! Be prepared to Expect the Unexpected! I highly recommend you to read this book. Believe me, you will not want to put down the book until the end!
