Becky is on her way to her first dog-sitting + house-sitting job. After losing her job as a covet designer, Becky wanted to Freelance so that she would have time to do all that she loves. Months later, here she is, with cow dung in her mouth and hay in her jeans – she’s still sitting in her car, mind. (‘Perks’ of keeping your car window open while driving on countryside.)

Becky’s ex-boyfriend/boss turned out to be a pain-in-the-backside. He used her and fired her when he found someone ‘better’. Becky has low self-esteem issues – no job, no boyfriend and no happiness. When she reaches Georgina’s place to house-sit, she meets Bella, the insta-celebrity-doggy. Ash, Georgina’s ex comes around saying Bella is his dog and he will take her away, by hook or crook. Becky cannot stop drooling about Ash but at the same time, she has a job to do – save Bella from Ash (Georgina’s orders).

The spotlight is on character development. We see Becky change as the story ends – from low-self-esteemed to the confident, happy-go-lucky and will-do-what-I-love-to. Meanwhile, Ash has his side of the story too. Ash brought home Bella one day and fell in love with her. His then girlfriend Georgina used Bella to gain fame on social media.

I wouldn’t want to comment much on the plot-to-story development because there isn’t anything much to say. As much as I liked the characters, I cannot say the same about the story.

As the story began, we had bits of humor thrown in often. But halfway through, we see Becky’s “obsession” with Ash. She fantasizes about him and at the same time, pushes him away. The Dog Sitter is a light and fun read. The ending seemed a little abrupt and hard to believe, but as they say, all’s well that ends well…

Many thanks to One More Chapter for the ARC. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.
