Title: The Christmas Swap
Author: Sandy Barker
Published on: 16 October 2020
Genre: Romance
Chloe, Jules and Lucy are about to have a Christmas of a lifetime. Finding the one during Christmas might not just be in movies anymore.
The three girls met years ago at Maui and have been the best of friends since. Christmas is around the corner and the girls are discussing how ‘boring’ the celebrations are at their place. So, they decide to swap places. Jules goes from Boulder to Melbourne to celebrate Christmas with Chloe’s friends; Lucy goes to Boulder to celebrate Christmas with Jules’ family and Chloe to England.
As the three women reach their destination, they have no idea what’s in store for them. Lucy gets to spend a snowy Christmas at a comfy cabin while Chloe is star-struck when she learns of Lucy’s dashing neighbor. Jules has no idea the handsome man she met at the front door was in deed, Chloe’s friend and a guest at the Christmas celebrations.
The Christmas Swap is a sweet love story. I really loved the concept of ‘swapping’ Christmas. The characters are likeable and well-portrayed. This book has a lot of 4 and 5 stars on Goodreads. But I am in the minority here when it comes to rating. This is only because, though the story was sweet and lovey-dovey, I found the story development to be a little bland.
As the story ends, we see the three women making a huge decision and somehow, this felt a little off to me. Maybe this happens in real life too – moving to a different city/country to be with the prospective partner. Maybe I am not a hopeless romantic, and also, if faced with a similar dilemma, I would want the prospective partner to move to my city. 😛 Blame it on my fiery Zodiac sign (Aries) if you wish. 😉
If Christmas romances are your thing, you would definitely love The Christmas Swap. Be prepared for a sugar rush. 😀
I received an ARC from One More Chapter in exchange for an honest and unbiased opinion.
Sounds cute, a little like that movie where they swap houses, I forget what it was called.
Very sweet story. 😊 Don’t know about the movie, never heard of the story before.
I think it was called Holiday or something; not exactly this but two women who swap houses, one in England and one in the States.
I bought this book as I found the cover cute hehehe
🙂🙂 very sweet story.
