Happy New Year!
I do not know if my break from October to December 2020 was good or bad but I certainly know one thing for sure – I am addicted to reading! I read 50 books in the 2-month (not so) break. π
I will be participating in a couple of exciting reading challenges this year. A few changes from the challenges I attempted last year. Instead of Lori’s Craving for Cozies challenge, I have decided to take up Alphabet Soup Challenge – author and normal editions.
Alphabet Soup Challenge Author edition is going to be a little tricky – especially with Q, X and Z. To make the my reading interesting, I have decided to include only cozy mysteries for these challenges. Fingers crossed.
How can I not participate in Bev’s Vintage Scattergories and Calendar of Crime? As Bev is celebrating the tenth year of Vintage Mystery Challenge, we are going back to basics. Scatter Scattergories. (okay, I was trying to get this echo-ish effect; looks like typing it doesn’t have the same effect as saying it out loud.)
Next comes Agatha Christie Perpetual Reading Challenge. I attempted this in 2020 and I couldn’t read more than 3 of Christie’s books. But all’s forgotten and forgiven since we were/are living in a dystopian novel. π I plan to complete at least one of Christie’s detective series this year. Poirot or Marple? Yet to decide. Might end up choosing Tommy and Tuppence!
Carol’s Cloak and Dagger Challenge needs no introduction. In 2020, I was Sherlock Holmes (hah! Watson! Fetch my…um, cane?) In 2021, I will still remain Holmes – unless I grow a moustache, in which case, I might be Poirot. Oui!
I have kept the best for the last. π Since it is a challenge that I host, I have to call it the best, right? π For British Crime Classics Challenge this year, I have plans to complete Inspector Littlejohn series. Yes, yes, my dear old Uncle Littlejohn. And, uncle Bellairs. π Throw in some British Library Crime Classic reprints, a couple of Wentworth reprints by DSP,… my list is long. π
Six reading Challenges this year. Wish me Luck! π
Happy New Year!
