Lucy Honey flees to the Cornish town of Pengully Sands, leaving behind friends and family. Her mum succumbed to cancer a year ago and her dad found love again. Meet Eleanor, the Ms. pretty-face-with-a-black-heart. Eleanor moves in with Lucy and her dad and that is when trouble starts. Lucy finds Eleanor wearing her mum’s jewelry, burning her mum’s dress and what not. But when confronted, Eleanor is the sweetest little thing you know. Leave it to the miss drama queen to wear a mask! Hmph!
As Lucy moves to Pengully Sands, she has no cash to spare. Parking her camping van at the grounds costs money. So off goes Lucy in search of a job. A ‘kind lady’ offers Lucy a cleaning job. But as Lucy starts to work, she realizes the ‘kindness’ was an act. Lucy meets the handsome engineering student Gabe Jackson. Just when Lucy thought something is going right in her life, trouble strikes again!
Lucy’s Great Escape is the 11th book in A Little Duck Pond Cafe series by Rosie Green. I cannot believe we have come this far. 11 books! When did this happen? The next book will be released by the end of this month and I cannot wait to read it! Rosie Green is the best!!
Lucy’s Great Escape is surely a new favourite in this series. I started reading this book post dinner and I couldn’t put it down until the end. With such an awesome and supercalifragilisticexpialidocious story, who cares about missing beauty sleep??
I do not know where to begin! Like, wow! Seriously. There’s romance, a bit of mystery, grief and Madison. Well, the crazy Madison is much more than ‘just a human being.’ 😉 The story begins with Lucy leaving her friend Amber’s house. She drives all the way to Pengully Sands, the Cornish town where Lucy and her mum spent many a vacation.
Lucy finds a job, thanks to the ‘kind’ Mrs.West. Soon Lucy realizes Mrs West is only taking advantage of her but there’s nothing Lucy can do as she’s low on cash. Meeting Gabe changes things. And then comes the weirdo Madison who encourages Lucy to follow her passion. Madison shows Lucy’s painting to the Duck Pond Cafe girls (they are on a vacation at Pengully Sands). The girls buy a few of Lucy’s paintings for the cottage, thereby encouraging Lucy to paint more.
There’s a twist in the story. Remember ‘sweet’ Eleanor? Yeah, looks like missy is in trouble. Big, big trouble. A dash of mystery in a feel-good story, wowwity wow! I really like the new change in this series plot. We met two new characters in the previous book and in this book, we got to see more of Lucy. I cannot wait to see how these two new characters will be absorbed in the Little Duck Pond Fam.
Wonderfully portrayed characters, excellent writing and a feel-good story with elements of mystery, Lucy’s Great Escape is a mind-blowing addition to the Little Duck Pond Cafe series. I absolutely recommend this series.
I think i need to add this book on my TBR Thank you for the review 🙂
