Author: Deborah Rogers

Genre: Mystery and Thrillers (Psychological)
Amelia Jane Kellaway is ecstatic. She quit her high-paying law job to go backpacking into the wilderness of California Coast. She gets down the bus, walks into a store to buy some gum, walks out of the store to see a man in crutches struggling over something in the trunk of car, asks if he needs any help… and that’s it! The last thing she remembers before waking up in the trunk is a rag held over her mouth and nose.
The crutches was just a decoy to kidnap Amelia. What does the man want? Is she going to be raped, tortured and left for dead?
Oh my god! Left for Dead is a bone-chilling, gritty, gripping psychological thriller!
Finding her life purpose seems to have gone the wrong way for Amelia Kellaway. The tedious work hours makes one long for a quiet and peaceful getaway. But Amelia’s plans to trek for four months into the wilderness of California Coast hit the wrong chord. She was kidnapped before she could start her trip. Bound, gagged and even raped, the girl has a hard time escaping from the sinister man named Rex. What does Rex want with her? He’s sweet as a pudding and the next minute, his mask wears off!
This was a quick read. Left for Dead is a part of a series and a little shorter than the full-length novels (in other words, a novella). Very well-portrayed characters – Rex and Amelia – I cannot wait to see what happens next. No matter how hard she tries to escape from his clutches, Rex wins. But for how long?
When I reviewed The Devil’s Wire, I praised Rogers’ writing and storytelling. Left For Dead is no different. Rogers is a master storyteller. The twists and suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. A well-written page turner.
Rex calls Amelia a fighter and he’s not wrong. Amelia fights until the end. Halfway through the story, Amelia befriends a wolf. It was really good to read Amelia had some company. The lonely wolf liked being with Amelia. (I wish she had named him!)
The story is not over. Not yet. It doesn’t end with a cliffhanger. As a reader, I really do not like waiting for months to read a book. So Deborah, please write a book a day. Pretty please 😀 The next book in this series, Coming for You, is releasing on 30th of June, 2020. I already have a copy of the book – provided for review purpose by Deborah. So excuse me while go read the book. 🙂
