Title: Clues in the Sand (A Seaside Cove B&B Mystery #2)
Author: Terry Ambrose

Genre: Cozy Mystery
Clues in the Sand is the second book in Terry Ambrose’s Seaside Cove B&B Mystery series.
In the previous story, there was a talk about the dumbwaiter in the Seaside Cove B&B and Marquetta taking rides on it when she was young. Alex gets to know about the dumbwaiter and she cannot wait to ride on it with her best friend Robbie.
Guests at the Seaside Cove B&B are still fascinated by the sunken treasure ship San Manuel. An archeologist named Flynn O’Connor is at the B&B and so is a man claiming to be the guest of Spanish Government – Mr de la Guerra.
The story starts with Alex making an entry in her journal about the body of a woman found on the beach. A 400-year-old piece of pottery was found on her. Flynn O’Connor goes out early in the morning on an errand and does not return for breakfast. Deputy Adam Cunningham arrives with some news about O’Connor’s links to the dead woman.
Reese Potok played a major role in the first book. She’s back again, or rather, she never left the place to begin with! Rick and Reese were pretty cozy until he learned of her true intentions. Rick learns that Reese and Flynn knew the dead woman.
The chief doesn’t want Rick to help Adam in solving the case this time. And neither does Mayor Francine. But Alex wants her daddy to help the cops so she sends a ‘caustic’ email to the mayor. Flynn is arrested for the murder and Rick wants to prove her innocence.
The small packet of energy Alex is the star of this series. She’s surely going to be the new Sherlock Holmes or Poirot or Miss Marple when she grows up. Uh huh! A wannabe sleuth and sneaky-sneaky, yep, that’s sooo Alex! Rick’s reporter instincts kick in and he wants to know the reason behind the mayor’s weird behavior. He ends up opening a closet full of skeletons. Not good! Not good at all!
The father-daughter duo form quite an interesting sleuthing pair. Have you read any series featuring such a marvelous pair before? Marquetta is the glue that holds Rick, Alex and the B&B together. Alex secretly wishes Marquetta to be her new mom. Aww!
Identity of the murder was surprising and unexpected. It goes without saying it was Alex who connected the missing dots! Terry Ambrose has done an excellent job in maintaining the suspense throughout the story. The Seaside Cove B&B is slowing becoming one of my favourite series. If you are looking for a unique cozy mystery, I will definitely recommend you to check out this series.
