Former Opera Singer Emma Streat has survived the murder of her husband and destruction of her old house. She’s now moved to a comfy house in Boston. She receives a call from her godmother Caroline. Caroline wants Emma to come over to New York immediately. Why? Caroline is being blackmailed by someone she knows.

Emma’s had a brush with sleuthing before – she wasn’t convinced that her husband’s death was an accident and she ended up uncovering a mammoth of a cyber crime mishmash. And that is when she met a British Secret agent Lord Andrew Rodale. The duo had quite a raunchy time together the last time they met.

When her godmother asks her to solve this case, she cannot say no. Caroline is attacked by an assailant at her house that night and Emma is even more determined to catch the blackmailer. But things go awry when Emma is targeted by the cyber-criminals. So off goes Emma on a whirlwind of a cat and mouse chase in Europe.

Before I start with the review, I would like to thank Anna from FSB Associates for introducing me to Eugenia Lovett West’s novels. Eugenia is one of the most talented and versatile authors of modern times. Firewall is proof of how marvelous her storytelling is.

I was hooked on to the story from page 1. I started reading it post-lunch and before I knew, I was halfway through the story. There is never a dull scene in the novel. Action, adventure, the thrill of chasing and being chased and much more, Firewall is a complete entertainment package!

I loved Eugenia’s writing. As I read through, it felt like a movie playing in my head. Emma, Andrew, Caroline, Peggy, Richard and many more – each of these characters play quite a role in the story. Though this is the third book in the series, it can be read as a standalone. There are flashbacks where Emma reminisces the ordeal she went through the last time she came face to face with cyber-criminals.

Emotions, adventure and the feel of a spy-thriller-ish story, this book has it all. Just when Emma thinks that she can now pack her bags and go home, uh-huh, nope, she’s roped into another task. And then some more…

Likeable characters, a cat and mouse chase that keeps you on the edge of your seat, romance, good food and pretty places in Europe -makes Firewall a must-read book, especially if you like stories of the genre Mystery and Thriller.  I highly recommend this book.
