Title: Christmas at Wynter House (Wyntersleap series #1)

After having seen a lot of rave reviews of Emily Harvale’s Merriment Bay series, I couldn’t say no when I received a blog tour invite for Christmas at Wynter House from Rachel.
Emily mentions that some of the characters from Merriment Bay are in this series too. I am eager to dive in and binge read Merriment Bay series. What better way to spend Christmas than to binge read on some truly uplifting series. 🙂
I have mentioned in one of my previous reviews that I am not a romantic at heart. One of my aunts once told me “Hey, since you read books, I have some Mills and Boons in the attic. You can read them whenever you want.” My reply was “Ugh!” Too much of cheesy-mushy drama is not my kinda read. But there are some books/series that I have liked so far (in the genre of romance, that is) and Wyntersleap series is one of them. 🙂
I absolutely adored Harvale’s storytelling. Christmas at Wynter House magical and so fairy-tale like – especially when Rafe made an appearance, I was like Rafe 😍… Rafe 😍… Okay, let me not get distracted here. 😉
The story goes something like this: Neva Grey is looking forward to spending a cosy Christmas with her family at a cosy cottage they’ve rented at Wyntersleap. But things do not go as we want them to, do they? Neva is greeted by torrential rain. Sasha, Neva’s niece, has gotten a gift – a pup named Tempest. As the name suggests, Tempest is quite a ‘tempest’. The dog rushes out of the car and dives into the fast-flowing Wynter river only to be saved by a grumpy man named Rafe. Neva dislikes him from the very beginning.
On Christmas eve, the river overflows, flooding the cottages and the residents/guests are invited to stay at the Wynters House. Neva seems to be smitten by Adam, Rafe’s brother. With a grumpy and unfriendly Olivia (Wynter brothers’ grandma) and Rafe’s secret work at the old barn, will Neva’s Christmas be snowed in?
The characters are very likeable. The story is absolutely magical. Emily Harvale’s writing is simply superb. The romance is… ooh la la 😉 I was hooked on to the story and could not put the book down until the end. In fact, I didn’t want the story to end!! Sasha is hilarious! Take my hand please, Sasha 😉 Sasha is up to some or the other prank and the ‘hand’ incident is one of her pranks. 😀 😀
Christmas at Wynter House is not only a perfect Christmas read, but it also gets you into a romantic mood. (Believe this, this coming from an aromantic should mean something!!)
