Only one person can save Christmas in the town of Rudolph. And that person is Santa Claus.
The residents of Rudolph keep the Christmas spirit alive throughout the year. But when Merry Wilkinson’s mother’s friends come to town, the Christmas spirit is ruined. From bickering to catfights, the five ladies give the Wilkinsons a tough time. Things take a turn for worse when one of them drops dead in the middle of a potluck dinner.
Meanwhile, Merry’s father Noel has always played the part of Santa in Rudolph during Christmas. But given the current murder situation, Santa Claus’s job is in jeopardy. Only a Christmas miracle can save Santa and the Christmas spirit at Rudolph.
Silent Night, Deadly Night is the fourth book in the Year-Round Christmas series but can be read as a standalone. This book gives you Christmassy vibes! 😀
Merry’s all-year-round gift shop is called Mrs Claus’ Treasures and is located on Jingle Bell Lane. Her mum is a famous opera singer while her dad is well known for his role as Santa Claus in the town of Rudolph. Vicki, Merry’s best friend, runs a patisserie while Alan, Merry’s boyfriend, is a wood crafter. No cozy story is complete without a furry friend so meet Merry’s pet Mattie – a Saint Bernard.
The five ladies were a complete bickering package. Me this, you that, I am better, you boo, oh my! No wonder they got on each other’s nerves! Phew! Even when one of them drops dead, the bickering doesn’t stop!
The characters are incredible – including the bickering ladies. 40 years since they have known each other and yet, they cannot stand each other!! My, my! The mystery behind the murder is well-maintained until the end of the story. The denouement is dramatic with a tinge of action.
There are a couple of red herrings to throw the reader off the track. There is a villain (of sorts) who makes their presence felt halfway through the story. I did not see this twist coming. Though it had nothing to do with the murder, their entry had a lot to do with the future of Rudolph.
Silent Night, Deadly Night is a perfect Thanksgiving and Christmas read. With a town named Rudolph, Santa Claus, some delicious baked goodies, Christmas gifts and an exciting murder mystery, this book is a perfect Christmas Cozy read.
