Happy third Book Birthday to Laura Briggs’ A Wedding in Cornwall.
Title: A Wedding in Cornwall (A Wedding in Cornwall #1)
Author: Laura Briggs
Published on: 11th August 2016
Genre: Chick-lit/Romance/Women’s Fiction
Julianne cannot believe that she’s gotten a career move of a lifetime. Her first assignment as an event planner is to host a wedding at a country house in Cornwall. With many hopes and dreams, Julianne moves from the States to England.
The bride-to-be is snobbish while the groom-to-be is bored! Julianne is left to plan everything – including selecting the bride’s flowers. Julianne and Matthew Rose, the gardener, start their friendship with an argument of sorts. The charming, handsome looking Matthew has stolen quite a few hearts in Cornwall but he seems aloof to all the attention he’s been getting. As the wedding date closes by, Julianne learns a secret about Rose and the bride-to-be.
Having read the first two books of Briggs’ A Hotel in Cornwall series, I couldn’t say no when I received a book birthday invite from Rachel. Termed as feel-good novellas, these stories are charming and lovely. In other words, as the title suggests, it does make you feel good. 🙂
I really loved Julianne. She’s been through some tough times – being treated as an option at the workplace is so very frustrating! When she finally comes across a chance of a lifetime, she doesn’t think twice before saying yes.
Moving to a different country might have been difficult if not for the supportive staff and owners of the country house. Lady Amanda and Lord William were very friendly with Julianne. Lady Amanda might be Julianne’s boss but she let Julianne decide all the details of the wedding. The kitchen staff and Julianne get along well from the beginning.
Just a day before the wedding, there is a tiny disaster involving the freshly-baked cake. But the household staff come together and make things okay. Aww! Matthew Rose!! Oh my! Julianne cannot seem to stop blushing when he is around! He’s much more than just a gardener. The bubbling romance between the two is like a fairy tale come true!
If you like to read books of the genre chick-lit/romance, then do try this book and you will not be disappointed. A Wedding in Cornwall is an utterly charming, loving and feel-good novella.
