Maddie is offered a chance to work on a luxury yacht for the summer and she’s very much looking forward to it. After an embarrassing start, Maddie gets to know her guests – Nick and Tara, Douglas and Cory, Siri, and Simon. Ivan is the captain of the yacht. As days pass by, Maddie learns a secret or two about the guests.

While Tara and Cory are nasty, Nick is indifferent. Siri is the only one who seems to be friendlier of the lot. Simon makes advances towards Maddie and she’s confused about her feelings for him.

Nick is Maddie’s friend Nina’s brother. Although the two start with an argument of sorts, they soon realize that they have a lot in common.

The Secret Cove in Croatia is the fifth book in Romantic Escapes series. The story starts on a slow note. Tara dislikes Maddie from the first time they meet. Same goes with Cory too. Given that the two (Tara and Cory) are models, they make fun of Maddie – body shaming! Tara is cheesy or bitchy, whichever suits the situation and Nick is indifferent to her behavior.

Nick has some issues too. Being in the midst of the rich and famous, he doesn’t get along well. But he cares for Tara so he ignores it all for her! Maddie is frustrated that Nick is being a bit thick in the head when it comes to Tara.

The second half of the book was interesting. Tara and Cory were at their high-bitchy-time, their true side was revealed soon enough! A twist almost at the end of the story was totally unexpected! A little bit of tension and suspense in a romance sounds good, doesn’t it? πŸ˜‰ Nick and Maddie’s ‘adventure’ was interesting (in a mushy kinda way).

I had a hard time connecting with the characters. Sometimes they were cheesy and sometimes, indifferent, cold-hearted and jealous. The characters and their emotions were very well portrayed – especially Tara and her drama – phew! Overall, this was a good read.  If cheesy romance is something that you like to read then you might want to check out this book.

Thanks to Rachel for giving me an opportunity to be a part of this blog tour.

      1. I have never read books of the genre romance before. But this year, I am giving it a try. 😬
