This was a good read. It took me some time to get used to the characters and the story, mainly because I haven’t read the other books in this series. I liked the way Amy’s portrayed in the story. Issues with her mum and dad, ex-fiance`, and Patrick – it was emotional. The way things changed between Amy and her mum, Katrina, was something that I did not expect. Katrina never lost an opportunity to underestimate or criticize her own daughter! From calling her a lump of lard to throwing away a piece of yummy cake to disliking her grey cardigan, Katrina was a box of complaints!
Amy’s feelings towards Patrick was heart-warming and lovely. Though she did have some low confidence issues, especially when it comes to her weight, in the end, Amy spoke her heart out. And so did Patrick. From not being comfy discussing his personal life to best buddies to much more, their relationship blossomed into a fragrant flower that lasts forever.
Amy’s bookshop sounded really good. I wish there was one just like The Little Book Cafe` around here! From a wide variety of books to choose from to storytelling events to book signing events, each of these scenes was delightful to read. If you are planning to read The Little Book Cafe` series, I recommend you to read the first two books – Tasha’s story and Emma’s story, and then read Amy’s story.
Overall, it was an enjoyable read. Suitable for a light and cozy read.
