The Best Books of 2018: Fiction & Humor – The Book Decoder

The best of Historical Fiction, General Fiction, and Humor.

Hilarious, quirky with a mathematical twist, this book is a must read for those who love (or do not love) Euler’s Formula! The story is about the murder of the Vavasor twins – Archimedes and Pythagoras.

Read my review here.

You definitely do not want to miss this book written by none other than a master storyteller – Manish Sahu. And every Tom, Dick, Harry, Mintu, Pinky, and others want to know Who Killed Vidyasagar?!

Read my review here.

The second installment of The Churchill Thrillers, this book is a must read for all those who love to read a historical fiction that has a blend of Hitler, Churchill and the Spear of Destiny (an artifact used by the Roman Centurion to pierce the side of Christ to end his suffering on the cross)

Read my review here.

Germans are at war with the Russians – Battle of Stalingrad. To boost the morale of their soldiers, the Russians and the Nazis have an exciting plan – a duel between two snipers. If you have watched the movie – Enemy at the gates, you would know what to expect from this book.

Read my review here.

Another masterpiece by a master storyteller – Derek Lambert, this story is engaging, almost real (or maybe it is true!) and thrilling. The story is about Operation Grey Fox – a secret mission that the Nazis have planned to save Hitler if Germany loses the war.

After having featured this book in my Books to Read This Christmas, this book has also made into my Best of 2018 list. The story makes you laugh. It also makes you cry. It gives you hope. It makes you believe that we all deserve a second chance – a second chance in life and love. This RomCom is a must read this Christmas

Where do I start? The story is gross, funny, vulgar, hilarious, quirky and weird! I don’t think I have ever read such a story before. And excluding the other books in this series, I don’t think there is any other book that can match this one! I have laughed so hard that my tummy started to ache and I had tears in my eyes (tears of joy???!!). Having said that, this book is not for those with a weak tummy! And Cornwall’s poems – Amen to that!

Read my review here.

NOTE: Some of these books were published in 2017. I have included them in the list as I read them in 2018.

Great varied books you have read. Fab

🙂🙂

We only have the bicycle Thief in common! But a great list! 😄

🙂🙂 you haven’t come across the rest or aren’t they your favourites?

I have been wanting to check Lambert’s book after your suggestions but I take time to read so am pretty full with christmas themed books ryt now. So have kept it for next year. And others I have only heard of truth about Archie through your review. So yeah haven’t really come across the others 🙈

😀 I will be concentrating more on classics and Indian writing next year. Or atleast that is what I have planned. 😂😂

Me too! At least the second half of next year am planning to read Indian authors. I noticed a lot of interesting ones by other Bloggers! 😄

I have come up with a reading challenge for next year. It’s called British Crime Classics Challenge. If you are interested, you are welcome to join. 🙂 Came across many bloggers who write reviews on classic crimes. 🙂

Am all ears. How does it work? 😃

Great! 😀 Here’s the link : https://thebookdecoder.com/2018/12/07/british-crime-classics-challenge/

No rules and all. One review post per month is also fine. 🙂

Great list and a lot of ideas for holiday reading ideas. Thanks for sharing. Would love your thoughts on my attempt for a best of 2018 here: https://therapywithbooks.clinic/
